Description

At Signal Solutions we provide a wide range of oscillators and synthesizers according to your specific needs. Our portfolio includes high-performance Voltage Controlled Oscillators (VCOs), Phase Locked Oscillators, Mechanically Controlled Oscillators, Low Phase Noise VCOs, SAW Oscillators, Digitally Tuned Oscillators (DTOs), Comb Generators and Frequency Synthesizers from leading manufacturers such as Spectrum Control, Macom, and MI-Wave.

Voltage Controlled Oscillators (VCOs)

The Signal Solutions portfolio includes a variety of voltage controlled oscillators (VCOs) that generate frequency in aerospace and defense, point to point, CATV, Satcom and other radio applications. The surface mount, hybrid and MMIC VCOs from our wold-class manufacturers support a variety of applications operating between the 45MHz to 14.2 GHz frequency range.  Featuring low phase noise, stable performance over temperature, low power consumption, and highly linear tuning, VCOs from Macom provide leading edge solutions for challenging communications needs.

Phase Locked Oscillators

Mi-Wave’s 957 Series Phase Locked Oscillators use fixed frequency low noise synthesizer technology. These oscillators use an external reference from 1MHz to 600MHz and frequency outputs from 100MHz to 110GHz.

Both coaxial and waveguide versions available. Internal crystal references are available on request.

Mechanically Controlled Oscillators

Mi-Wave’s 830 Series Mechanically Controlled Oscillator source is available in the 18 to 110GHz frequency range. This source can be used for a mixer local oscillator or transmit source. The 830 Series is a moderate stability source and is commonly found in applications like radar, radiometers, local oscillators, telecommunications, and others. Very high power sources are available.

Low Phase Noise VCOs

The Signal Solutions portfolio includes Spectrum Control’s Voltage Controlled Oscillators (VCOs), which are rugged, high performance, customizable varactor diode-based designs. Key features include:

  • Use of thermistors on all VCO designs for added temperature stability.
  • Gold substrate film yields lower loss and enhances phase noise performance.
  • MIL PRF 38534 screening is available.
  • Ceramic and metal construction provides low junction temperatures.
  • Use of bipolar transistors to achieve low phase noise and high output power.
  • Integrate unique low pass filtering for superior harmonic performance.
Ultra-Low Phase Noise SAW Oscillators

Spectrum Control designs and manufactures hi-rel SAW oscillators for today’s space and defense market. They utilize a low jitter planar SAW which translates to extremely low phase noise performance. These high performance SAW oscillators, in frequencies from 100 MHz to 4000 MHz, also feature high stability and reliability. These oscillators also have extremely low sensitivity to vibration, making them ideal for aerospace applications. Spectrum Control offers fixed frequency, voltage controlled, and phase locked oscillators.

Digitally Tuned Oscillators (DTOs)

Spectrum Control offers a complete line of Digitally Tuned Oscillators (DTOs). These custom designed DTOs consist of a select number of sub-band VCOs covering customer specific frequency ranges between 2 GHz and 18 GHz.

Comb Generators

Macom offers a family of Non-Linear-Transmission-Line (NLTL) GaAs Comb Generators offering superior phase noise performance up to -18 dBc/Hz better then a SRD, usable harmonics out to 50 GHz, and available in SMT or connectorized packages. Standard drive levels from 18 – 21 dBm.

Frequency Synthesizers

Spectrum Control’s frequency synthesizers offer wide bandwidth, multiple step size options, fast switching speed, and low phase noise combined with the cost advantages of standardized packages. Frequency control options include Serial/parallel inputs, BCD/Binary format, or traditional thumbwheel switches.

We also offer several different options for locking to a specific source. You may choose internal reference crystal oscillators or low ppm OCXO’s. External reference frequencies can range from 10-100 MHz, depending on your system.
